New Brake lines & Dual Master Cylinder: Phase 1

Here's the new brake line kit and dual master cylinder from CSSB (Corvette Stainless Steel Brakes). Note: Rear brake line comes in 3 parts given original rear brake line ran along the top of the chassis, and was installed prior to the body being set on the frame.

In order to install the brake lines, we'll need to remove the old steering box, coupler, and steering shaft.

Steering box isn't going to come out, unless we remove the header. ; )

We'll also be removing the old master cylinder

Header can't be removed without removing the clutch cross-shaft.

Here's the original front brake block. We will be separating the fronts (with new disc brakes) from the rears (keeping the original drum brakes)

Removing rocker panel for access to new brake line install.

Under-dash work in preparation of steering column removal

Removing line from old single master cylinder

Unbolting single master cylinder

Under dash brackets for steering column

Steering column is out

Removing clutch cross-shaft

Driver-side header pipe removed. Unbolting the original steering box.

Steering box is out.

Header and steering box. Note how greasy that steering box is. It had been leaking for years.

You can see how wet the chassis is under/around the old steering box

Removing the pitman arm - we'll be using the original pitman for the new Borgeson power steering box.

New rear wheel cylinders, turn the drums, bleed brakes & hood…
